Magnetic 3 Residencies Announced
We are delighted to announce the Marseille-based artist Violaine Barrois has been awarded a Cove Park residency as part of the Magnetic Residencies programme.
Magnetic is a network of 10 residencies in France and the United Kingdom. Launched in 2022 under the umbrella of Fluxus Arts Projects, Magnetic is a a unique collaboration conceived by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni and the four UK arts funding agencies.
The programme is based on a tandem partnership between a French region and a UK nation. This year, Cove Park is partnered with Villa Arson in Nice. We are also very pleased that former resident and Cove Park Associate Emilia Beatriz is the Scottish artist selected for the Magnetic Residency at Villa Arson.
The other artists involved in this exchange include Mez Kerr Jones (Wales) for Frac Bretagne (Rennes, Bretagne), Dorian Teti (Brittany) for Aberystwyth Arts Centre (Aberystwyth, Wales), Robin Price (Northern Ireland) for Frac Grand Large (Dunkirk), Donovan Le Coadou (Hauts-de-France) for Flax Art Studios (Belfast, Northern Ireland), Elsa Prudent (Nouvelle-Aquitaine) for Wysing Arts Centre, Lisa Selby (England) for CAPC Bordeaux (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine), Racheal Crowther (England) for Bétonsalon (Paris), and Camille Brée (Île de France) for Gasworks (London).
The artists will commence their residencies in the autumn of 2024, receiving a monthly fee of 2500 euros for their 8 week stay along with curatorial mentoring, accommodation, and access to workspace. The residencies are bespoke and developed in collaboration with the curatorial teams of the host institutions, providing ample networking opportunities for the artists.
More information on this programme is available from Institut français du Royaume-Uni’s programme announcement (11 October 2024).
