10.00 – 4.00 at Cove Park

16mm ‘Scratch’ Animation workshop – Raydale Dower

Scratch animation is a technique pioneered by early 20th century experimental film-makers, who created animations by working directly onto film negative. The technique is still employed by contemporary artists and film makers today and is a process that artist Raydale Dower experimented with during his 2019 residency at Cove Park.

The workshop will start by looking at the work of a few influential film-makers before creating our own animations. We will draw, scratch and use ink to create marks and images directly onto the film. Towards the end of the session we will be able to view our work through a projector.

Please bring a packed lunch, drinks and fruit will be provided for snacks

This free workshop is open to all young people currently in secondary school. We are able to help with transport if required.
