Saturday 25th January 2020
10.00 – 4.00 at Cove Park
Sculptural Performance Workshop with Ashanti Harris
This workshop will encourage you to view the body as a tool that can be used to make art. Throughout the day we will work through a series of exercises designed to explore the idea of the body as a sculptural medium, exercises will use movement and dance as a starting point. We will experiment with ideas of artists such as Rebecca Horn’s use of “body modifications”, Yayoi Kusama’s immersive environments and Jelili Atiku’s sculptural costumes. At the end of the day we will create a collective, performative, sculptural installation.
This class is suitable for all levels. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and please bring a non-precious object with you. The object can be anything at all, a newspaper, a mop, a stone, or a felt tip pen, something you find in your bag, anything.
