Creative Climate Champions – a Digital Resource Toolkit for Young People
NAARCA presents ‘Creative Climate Champions’ – a pedagogical toolkit that is free to be used by schools, community groups, and parents to run creative workshops that seek to inform, inspire and engage children and young people in topics surrounding climate change while addressing important issues such as climate anxiety, adaptation and empowerment.
This toolkit designed by artist Maraid Mcewan provides practical resources and creative workshop curricula as a means of engaging young people in climate action. Along with materials lists and workshop instructions, the toolkit showcases the artistic practices of several artists involved in NAARCA’s pedagogy programme.
NAARCA’s Pedagogy committee includes Artica Svalbard (Norway), Cove Park (Scotland), Skaftfell Art Center (Iceland), and Narsaq International Research Station (Greenland). In 2023 and in partnership with freelance artists, we developed and delivered five creative workshops related to issues around the environment including sustainability, climate change, and climate anxiety. If you would like to provide feedback about any of the workshops, we would love to hear from you – please get in touch with Cove Park’s Curator of Engagement, Emma Henderson.
