We are delighted to announce this month the names of the artists taking part in the institutional and artists’ residency exchange programme between Cove Park and RAW Material Company. Cove Park will host Ibrahima Thiam in November and December this year, and RAW will host Juliane Foronda in the spring of 2022.

Ibrahima Thiam was born  in Saint-Louis, Senegal, and moved to Dakar where he is now based to study economics. Following a workshop organized by the Goethe-Institut during Photo Month in Dakar in 2009, he discovered a passion for photography. Self-taught, he is interested in memory, archives, african orality as well as myths and legends.

Juliane Foronda (she/her) is a Filipina-Canadian artist, organizer and writer based in Glasgow. Predominantly through object, intervention, taste and text, her practice considers the structures, labour, care and intimacy associated with traditions of gathering, preservation and hospitality. Juliane received her MA in Fine Arts from Listaháskóli Íslands/Iceland University of the Arts, Reykjavík in 2018, and her BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph, Canada in 2013.

If you would like to know more about RAW Material Company and its internationally acclaimed programme, please come to a special event at Cove Park on Wednesday 22 September, from 4-6pm. This free event is an opportunity to meet Fatima and Dulcie and to learn about the organisation’s current and future projects.
