Katherine Mendelsohn is a freelance drama translator and dramaturg based in Glasgow. She has translated a number of Francophone contemporary plays (from France, Africa, Québec and Belgium), which have often gone straight into rehearsal and production on UK stages.

Katherine previously worked as director, assisting at the Royal Court Theatre, for Mike Alfreds at Method & Madness, and with John Barton at the Royal Shakespeare Company. She directed a Beckett for a drama-documentary on BBC Radio4 and a site-specific revel at London’s Middle Temple, before an artistic breakthrough sparked twenty years’ work in dramaturgy and play creation in the UK and internationally. From 1999-2012 Katherine was the International Literary Associate and then Literary Manager for the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, managing/dramaturging commissions and translations for Artistic Director Philip Howard and then Dominic Hill.
