Karen Guthrie is a Lake District based artist and filmmaker whose work is often concerned with rural culture and with the richness and intimacy of everyday life. She is the co-founder, alongside Nina Pope, of the collective Somewhere, which has produced numerous public art projects, including the communal Abbey Gardens in East London. She has worked for Grizedale Arts in many capacities, presently as Head Gardener and Volunteer Coordinator at their base Lawson Park, a hill farm overlooking Coniston Water. Her installation House of Ferment celebrates global histories and cultures of fermentation, and featured in the recent V & A Museum show ‘Food: Bigger than the Plate’.
