Esme Paul

Esme Paul (photography, Melissa Huang)

Esme Paul is a Glasgow-based artist and researcher. She is currently completing a practice-based PhD at the University of Glasgow in Theatre Studies and Psychology in which she investigates the representations of autistic experiences in contemporary theatre. Through her solo practice, she utilises non-narrative performance to interrogate longstanding cultural perceptions of autism as well as how they might influence artistic representations of autistic characters. Her work uses multidisciplinary techniques, focusing on patterning, task-based movement, manipulation of music, and a blending of found and generated text, seeking to reflect the complexities of internal phenomenological experience.
