Kim Burgas is an interdisciplinary artist and design strategist who creates participatory and embodied spaces for imagination, encounter and reflection. Working across music, immersive experiences, roleplaying games, workshops and participatory research, she creates situations that invite people to encounter familiar subjects from unfamiliar perspectives.

Recent work has explored relationality with plant kin through a field-based roleplaying game about plant patents and ownership, and death, dying and grief through Death Languages, a toolkit for developing more personal and meaningful languages and mindsets around death. She is currently developing a solo album of songs emerging from her experiences of less acknowledged forms of grief, including ambiguous, anticipatory, collective, and disenfranchised grief. Her work often asks what becomes possible when we move beyond talking about an idea and instead inhabit it.

Kim has spent several years working as a design strategist at a cancer hospital in New York City and is trained as an end-of-life doula. She also plays banjo in a psychedelic dark-Americana band in Vermont, where she lives amongst the woodland creatures, of which she is one.
