Residency Reflection: Daira Ronzoni
In February 2026, we welcomed multidisciplinary artist Daira Ronzoni to Cove Park as part of Cryptic’s Artist Residency Programme.
Reflecting on her time at Cove Park, Daira says:
‘During my residency, I focused on developing ‘Cosmic Ch’ixi’, an immersive moving-image installation and interactive virtual landscape influenced by Latin American magical realism and Indigenous ritual practices. The work explores cycles of growth, decay, and regeneration through a shifting environment where participants engage through gameplay, encountering offerings and contributing to restoring balance within the landscape. It aims to blur the boundaries between game and ritual space, inviting a sense of coexistence, reciprocity, and interconnected life.
The residency provided a supportive and inspiring environment to deepen this work. I found the setting particularly grounding, which positively informed the atmosphere and sensibility of the project.’
We are excited to see Daira Ronzoni’s Cosmic Ch’ixi will premiere at Sonica Glasgow from 24 September – 4 October 2026 at The Listening House | Pollock House.
Co-commissioned by Aberdeen Performing Arts and New Media Scotland’s Alt-w Fund with investment from Creative Scotland, Cosmic Ch’ixi was developed during Cryptic’s Cove Park Residency 2026.
