Bee Hayes
Duration
Bee Hayes is a Scottish designer, ceramicist and printmaker based in Fife. Drawing upon her background in Social Anthropology and Fashion Design, Bee approaches her work with a view to creating objects that enhance the daily lived experience with tactility and visual appeal. Working with porcelain to produce functional vessels for the past 10 years, she is currently in a period of research and development to bring more abstract, sculptural elements into her work, and create hand printed surface designs for textiles and paper whilst examining how the use of lower-impact practices will allow her to positively diversify.
She has benefited from Creative Scotland Open Funding (2021-22) to pursue a year of Printmaking at Leith School of Art and a VACMA award (2025-26) to explore new work in clay, which is contributing to this residency time at Cove Park. Previous residencies at Guldagergaard International Ceramics Centre, Denmark (2017) and Arteles Creative Centre, Finland (2022) have been instrumental in forwarding her practice via learning and using plaster-based work and creating landscape-based abstract screen print. Exhibitions in the past have included Devon Guild of Craftsman, 2017; Fire Station Creative 2019-24; Edinburgh Printmakers 2023.
