Elisabeth Mulenga
Duration
Elisabeth Mulenga is a choreographer and performer creating unflinching autobiographical work that examines themes around obsession, intimacy, and the sense of being haunted by lost individual and collective futures. Her German-Zambian heritage and second-generation immigrant experience underpins her research into hauntology.
Drawing from a Pentecostal Christian upbringing, Elisabeth’s choreographic language is informed by rituals and the notion of constant observation by physical and spiritual beings. Religiosity has shaped her process, often working with intent repetition, gesture and in silence, rooted in a continuous awareness of the interplay between physical sensation and emotional reaction. Elisabeth is a Sadler’s Wells Young Associates Alumni. Her recent work, Christ Alone was staged at Sadler’s Wells Theatre (2024) and The Royal Opera House (2025). In 2026, Elisabeth will direct a film adaptation.
Elisabeth has performed solos at venues such as Cafe Oto, Lilian Baylis Studio, Blue Elephant Theatre, The Mount Without, Farce Gallery and The Good Rice Gallery, winning the Choreographic Innovation Award in the BBC Young Dancer Final 2022.
At Cove Park, Elisabeth will develop The Back Of Her Neck, a solo premiering at The Place Theatre in February 2026.
