Abigail Fletcher-Drye is a British mixed-media artist working across textiles, paint, ceramics, and digital media to assemble a playful menagerie of stuff that tests the possibilities of material form. Using cartoon-like fragments, disembodied limbs and heightened sensory organs, she explores the physical and metaphysical limits of materials. Influenced by new materialism, her work treats matter as active and relational, examining how objects shape human and inter-human interactions. By navigating the allure and repulsion of things, Fletcher-Drye questions both artistic agency and the agency of objects, extending Marxist critiques of material fetishism into a contemporary material context.
