Audrey Grant’s practice includes painting, photography, installation and recently film. Her current work explores real and imagined landscapes. Recent exhibitions and projects include The Long Look: The Making of a Portrait, National Galleries of Scotland (2019); Inscriptions in Arcadia, Bothkennar Pools site-specific commission (2021); Memoria, University of Stirling following her year as Artist in Residence (2023-24); and Frontiers: Painting in Scotland Now at the Royal Scottish Academy (2024). She has just graduated with a Certificate in Documentary Storytelling from the National Film and Television School Scotland with her short film, Home about Grangemouth, the town where she grew up.

Magnetic North’s Space/Time is a paid creative retreat for experienced artists from all disciplines that asks the question “How does an artist keep developing?” It aims to refresh participants through a stimulating examination of creativity. During the residency, we will explore how creativity can be nourished and how artists can continue to challenge themselves to develop. The residency combines facilitated dialogue – built around a series of self-generated questions – with time for individual reflection and work. It is led by Nicholas Bone and Alice McGrath.

Magnetic North was founded in 1999. Led by Artistic Director Nicholas Bone and Producer Anna Hodgart, the company combines developing and producing live theatre with innovative multi-artform artist development. They collaborate with playwrights, composers, choreographers, visual artists, performers and other artists to create a wide range of work including plays, music-theatre, installations, online events and films. Their comprehensive artist development strand has supported over 250 independent artists to continue developing.
