Mohammad Namazi
Duration
Mohammad Namazi is an artist and researcher working through means and processes of unlearning, transformation, decolonisation, and media technologies within social and cultural contexts. His studio functions as a research lab for interdisciplinary projects spanning DIY publishing, immersive experiences, alternative archives, creative coding, electronic sculptures, sound installations, and community-based work.
His current project, Community Ecosystems (2024–26), supported by Arts Council England, focuses on Thamesmead, a rapidly redeveloping area in London. The project investigates the evolving relationship between community, architecture, and social change, with particular emphasis on local histories, marginalised voices, and alternative archival practices.
He has received multiple grants and residencies, including Arts Council England’s DYCP award, a fellowship with the Decolonising Arts Institute, the Index Collective residency (Zurich), and the MFI Residency at Flat Time House. His artist’s book How to See the Unheard is held in the Tate Library collection, and his writing has been published in Art Monthly and by Intellect Books.
He is a Lecturer in BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and BA Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London. His residency at Cove Park is supported by the Breaking Barriers research grant at Royal Holloway. Further information about his research and practice is available on his website.
