Jamie is a writer and teacher originally from Tighnabruaich but based in Fort William. He has written extensively about surf culture and personalities worldwide both in print and online, and co-authored Surf Atlas, published by gestalten in 2023.

Recently his focus has turned to hill and trail running. He writes the popular Substack newsletter “Running High”, a collection of personal essays and prose poetry about our desire to run.

Most of all, he enjoys longform profiles and work that examines our relationship with landscape and purpose. His subjects are often quiet, high-achievers who seem to have found balance between passion and place.

Jamie is currently working on a biography of the mountain athlete Finlay Wild. The working title is At The Sky’s Edge: Searching For Finlay Wild. This will be published by Scottish Mountaineering Press in 2026.
