Earth Month 2025: Cultures of Action

Earth Month 2025 by Institut français d’Écosse, Goethe-Institut Glasgow & ClimateCulture unites perspectives from France, Germany & Scotland for a month-long journey exploring sustainability through film, panel discussions, performances and more.

The opening event will bring together Minister for Climate Action Dr Alasdair Allan, Professor Pete Smith from the University of Aberdeen and artists in residence Antonia Ablass and Charlotte Bracho, on 22nd of April at 7pm at the French Institute in Edinburgh.

Through a series of events, running until the 22nd of May, Earth Month 2025: Cultures of Action will be tackling the topics of preservation of the oceans with seaweed specialist Vincent Doumeizel, cities’ sustainability with professor Rohinton Emmanuel from Glasgow Caledonia University, circular design with John Thorne from the Glasgow School of Art, and rewilding with Stephanie Kiel from Affric Highlands and Pierre-Henri Guignard, former Secretary of COP21.

Along the talks, join us for an immersive performance experience: Bodies of Water, made and performed by a collective of artists including Cove Park Associate Saffy Setohy (choreographer/performer), Aya Kobayashi (choreographer/performer), Nicolette Macleod (musician/sound designer), Laura Bradshaw (performer) and Simon Kenyon (performer), and experience an exhibition of Antonia Ablass’s and Charlotte Branco’s original work at the French Institute in Edinburgh.
