David Greig is a writer and theatre director. His play Europe was performed at the Traverse Theatre in 1994. Since then, his plays, adaptions and musical scripts have been performed widely in the UK and around the world. His first play was produced in Glasgow in 1992 and he has written many plays since, produced worldwide. In 1990 he co-founded Suspect Culture Theatre Group with Graham Eatough in Glasgow. David Greig’s more recent works include two translations: of Euripedes’ The Bacchae; and of Strindberg’s Creditors. In 2010 his play Dunsinane, set in Scotland during the border wars with England, premiered at Hampstead Theatre with the Royal Shakespeare Company and his play, The Monster in the Hall (2011) was staged at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2016 he became the Artistic Director of Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre. In 2023, he published his first novel, Columbia.
