Hannah Brackston is a socially engaged artist based in Glasgow, creating site specific artworks responding to the relationships between people and their environment. Born in Leeds, Hannah studied Environmental Art at Glasgow School of Art. She graduated in 2011, receiving the David Harding Public Art prize. Since then Hannah has undertaken a wide range of residencies, commissions and exhibitions in Scotland, England, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria and Sri-Lanka.

Hannah’s projects are action-led and playful, taking place in nature reserves, pavements, rivers, neighbourhoods, hospitals, fields and parks. Hannah makes permanent and temporary public art works which facilitate new opportunities for recreation and interpret the history or ecology of places. She undertakes artist-led research and orchestrates creative events and happenings to engage people in the design and future strategies for environmentally sustainable spaces. She uses playful methodologies to invite public participation, create debate and inspire community led action to improve the the built and natural environment.
