Bobbi Cameron is an artist based in Glasgow. She works predominantly across sound, text, performance and moving image. Cameron graduated from the MFA programme at Glasgow School of Art in 2019. Her work uses acts of queering, contemporary witchcraft and autobiography to dismantle and disrupt normative confinements of space, place and (both constructed and bodily) architectures. Cameron recently presented her first solo show NINE at Hop Projects, Folkestone (October 2020). Cameron works with giving documented and memorialised bodies agency within the gallery and seeks to experiment with how we encounter and perceive spaces. She is particularly interested in different perspectives of ghosting, blending the lines between documentary and liveness. This stems from an ongoing research practice that explores queer phenomenology, (dis)orientations and their combined effects on architecture and landscape.
Cameron intends to use the opportunity at Cove Park as a period of research and development to reflect and build upon her recent exhibition. In particular, she will be focused on the initial development of a new research film, which will document the process of NINE. The research film will be presented alongside future exhibitions of the work and will also be included as part of an online exhibition in 2021. NINE is a six-channel audio installation made through collaborating with spirits, ghosts and entities to explore how approaches to communal disorientation can be experienced with spiritual beings and its impact on landscape. Cameron seeks to document this process and further explore these findings in direct response to the landscape of Cove Park.
