The artist Toby Paterson - with red hair and wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans - is standing with his back to us on the balcony cantilevered over a pond outside Cove Park's studios. He is looking across bright yellow gorse on the border of the pond to Loch Long and the blue hills of Cowan peninsula, and taking a photograph of the scene.

Awarded Residencies

Toby Patterson, Awarded Residency 2019 (photography, Helen Voce).

Awarded Residencies are offered to local, national, and international artists following an application and selection process involving specialist advisors. The appointed residents receive fees in addition to travel, visa, materials, and access allowances when required.

Our biennial general call for applications for Awarded Residencies in 2025 and 2026 is currently live and accepting applications until Friday 11 April 2025. Individual artists, collaborators, and collectives will be welcome to apply for residencies of between two weeks to three months taking place between June 2025 and December 2026. By programming over two years, we aim to offer international artists longer residencies, and to enable UK-based artists to structure their residencies over two years, making possible longer-term support around other professional or caring commitments.

Other targeted calls for applications for special Awarded Residencies are announced regularly throughout the year on our Current page.
