The 2010 Scottish Visual Arts Residency was awarded to the Glasgow-based visual artist Luke Fowler.

This three-month residency enabled the artist to embark on a large scale, research-based film project, concentrating on the ideas of the Scottish psychiatrist RD Laing. This work brought together two discrete tendencies that embody Fowler’s practice: the construction of ‘truth’ and mythology within documentary – through the collage of archive and his own interviews – with the more formal, experimental and lyrical 16mm film works which have preoccupied his recent practice.
