Following on from our first Translation Week in October 2017, we continue our partnership with the National Centre for Writing to welcome 7 translators to take part in a one-week programme including discussion workshops, sharing work with fellow translators, and time and space to work on translation projects.

The participating translators 2019 include: Kari Dickson (workshop leader), Polly Barton (Japanese), Jozefina Komporaly (Hungarian and Romanian), Jozef van der Voort (Dutch and German), Zoë Perry (Portuguese), Katherine Mendelsohn (French) and Ayça Türkoğlu (Turkish and German).

Jozef van der Voort is a Sheffield-based literary translator working from German and Dutch into English. He was a New Books in German emerging translator in 2013 and was named runner up in the 2014 Harvill Secker Young Translators Prize. During his residency, he’ll be working on translating a set of short stories by award-winning Dutch writer Maartje Wortel.
