Luke Pell comes to Cove Park this June through the Jerwood Performing Arts residencies, programmed by Fuel Theatre. In a new development for 2014, former participants will each nominate emerging artists new to both Cove Park and Fuel to take up this year’s residency opportunities. The nominated artists will work with Fuel either on a specific project, or for the more general development of their creative practice. The residencies will take place in May, June, July and August this year.

Cove Park is most grateful for the continued support of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation for making this work possible.

Luke Pell makes work in and in between spaces of dance, theatre and live art. Fascinated by detail, nuances of time, texture, memory and landscape. Noticing threads that weave between people and place. He creates intimate encounters, poetic objects and environments that attend to notions of alterity, periphery and community.

As a maker, curator and performer he also collaborates with other artists and organisations imagining alternative contexts for performance, participation and discourse that might reveal wisdoms for living.

Luke will be using his time at Cove Park to reflect and explore the place of words and writing within his practice.
