This residency, supported for the first time this year by The Bridge Awards, enables an emerging visual artist based in Scotland to develop new work at an important point in their career. This year a four-week residency has been awarded to the Glasgow-based artist Sarah Wright.

Sarah’s work focuses upon printmaking and ideas relating to the production and consumption of images. Her practice borrows from photography, digitization, book design and painting; often sourcing imagery from newspapers and fashion magazines and developing, reproducing and abstracting them through various printmaking methods. Her work explores a rhythmic and subjective language of pictures that function as visual poems, or a sort of graphic stream-of-consciousness.

Earlier this year, Sarah presented a solo exhibition at Glasgow Print Studio and is working towards a group show for Glasgow International in 2016. This residency will allow her to reflect upon recent projects and develop new work leading towards a solo exhibition at Edinburgh’s Inverleith House in 2017.

Cove Park’s Emerging Visual Artist programme enables artists to develop new work at a key stage in their careers. Previous residents on this programme include Pio Abad, Giles Bailey, Sara Barker, Lucy Clout, Lauren Printy Currie, Nick Evans, Ross Hamilton Frew, Lauren Gault, Lorna Macintyre, Sophie Mackfall and Charlotte Prodger.

This residency is supported by The Bridge Awards.
