The Craignish Trust has now supported Cove Park for seven years and this year has made possible a one-month residency for the Glasgow-based visual artist Ross Hamilton Frew.

Cove Park’s Emerging Artists programme provides artists with the support required to develop new work at a crucial stage in their careers. Previous residents on this programme include Pio Abad, Giles Bailey, Sara Barker, Lucy Clout, Nick Evans, Sophie Mackfall and Charlotte Prodger.

Ross Hamilton Frew produces outstanding drawings, paintings and prints. His drawings engage in pattern to explore a more systematic approach to the act of making marks. At Cove Park, Frew will work directly in and from the landscape. By gathering and documenting elements from the site, he intends to create an archive of shapes and patterns that will provide the source material for a new body of abstract drawings and paintings. This work will be shown in a forthcoming two-person exhibition in Glasgow in August 2012.
