Tray Butler is an author and journalist whose short stories, essays, critical reviews and humor pieces have appeared in a wide range of publications in the U.S. and Britain. A Georgia native, Tray grew up north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After graduating from the University of Georgia, his journalism career included reporting and editing positions in Atlanta, New York and London.
Tray’s city guidebook, Moon Atlanta, was published by Avalon Travel in 2009. He completed a master’s degree in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College in 2011, the same year his short story, “The Last Place You Look,” was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize.
Tray currently teaches Creative Writing Certificate courses in Emory University’s Continuing Education programme. The second edition of Moon Atlanta was published at the start of 2013.
