James Thompson lives and works in London.
He studied 3 dimensional design (furniture) at Leeds College of Art from 2007 and then went on to do an MA in Design Products at the Royal College of Art, London in 2010.
His practice deals with the perception of space and its interpretation using existing architectural spaces as starting points then recording and re-interpreting to construct new multi-dimensional experiences of reality.
Specialising in a range of different materials and processes including casting in Jesmonite, latex and silicone, kinetic and audio installation, video and digital scan, Thompson’s practice encompasses product design, furniture, installation and performance.
Recent exhibitons include ‘Data Manifestation’ Royal College of Art, London (2013), ‘Expanding Spaces‘ Marsden Woo Gallery, London (2013),  ‘Information in Style’ CAFAA Art Museum, Bejing (2013), ‘Pilots: Navigating the next Models of Design Education’ Stanley Picker Gallery, London (2013).
