Florrie James (born 1986) lives and works in Glasgow. She graduated from Painting and Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art in 2010 and, during her degree, spent six months at the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana as part of a study exchange programme. Her films have been screened throughout Scotland and at key venues such as the Pier Art Centre, Stromness; the GFT (as part of the Glasgow Film Festival) and at the CCA, Glasgow. Films made with Ross Little and Lester Alvarez, as a result of her time in Cuba, were shown at Market Gallery, Glasgow, in February 2017. James has received numerous awards for her work: in 2014 she was awarded the prestigious Margaret Tait Residency in Orkney and in 2015 she received the Flaherty Film Seminar Fellowship (Syracuse, New York).
