Born in 1988 in Rio de Janeiro, Eva Medin graduated from the École Supérieue des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2013. Since then she has taken part in group and solo exhibitions throughout France and received several national awards for early career artists. Working in video, installation and photography, Medin creates futuristic and immersive environments that reflect her recent collaborations with dancers and theatre makers. Her work frequently explores pressing political issues, such as the environment (Orbital Drama) and immigration (STORM STATION). Medin has stated that ‘For me art has an incomparable power of transmission, of putting people in touch with each other and with the world.’ Medin was invited to participate in Cove Park’s European Residency Programme as it supports artists with a particular interest in trans-national exchange, borders and migration; Cove Park’s location – one hour away from Glasgow on Scotland’s west coast and adjacent to two major naval installations – itself provides a rich context in which Medin can develop further her interest in society’s relationship to the natural and the industrial.
