Brian Chikwava is a London-based Zimbabwean writer. His short story Seventh Street Alchemy was awarded the Caine Prize in 2004. Brian’s work has appeared in short story collections published by Weaver Press, Jacana, Picador, Umuzi and in the journals Moving Worlds, Literary Review, World Literature Today, Wasafiri, Granta, The Literary Encyclopaedia and others. Some of his stories have also been broadcast on BBC Radios 3 and 4 and World Service. He is a former Charles Pick Fellowship holder at the University of East Anglia and has been a creative writing tutor at City University London. Brian’s debut novel, Harare North, was published in 2009 by Jonathan Cape; a French translation was published by Éditions Zoé in 2011. He is currently working on a second.
