Birte Pedersen was born in Copenhagen and has a degree in English from Copenhagen University. She came to London in her twenties to study theatre and worked as an actor and director. She taught physical comedy at numerous drama schools and founded an Arts Council funded theatre company called Burnt Bridges. The company toured art centres and fringe venues throughout Britain with productions using an eclectic mix of text, movement and large filmic sets.
When offered a job in an independent television production company, she accepted, and has worked in documentaries ever since as a producer and production executive. She is currently Head of Production at Windfall Films where she spends her time brokering deals between broadcasters and fire-fighting on projects.
Birte completed her MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck in 2012 and is working on her first novel.
