An opportunity to hear acclaimed visual artist Abraham Cruzvillegas (born Mexico City, 1968) discuss his recent projects in conversation with Francis McKee, Director of Glasgow’s CCA. This event takes place as the artist prepares to launch the inaugural Hyundai Commission for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall in October this year.

Abraham Cruzvillegas has received international recognition for his work, which in recent years has often been created in relation to the concept of ‘autoconstrucción’ (self-construction), which he derives from the ad-hoc house-building undertaken by his family and other migrants to Mexico City in the 1960s. Since undertaking a six-month residency at Cove Park in 2008, and as a result presenting the exhibition ‘Autoconstrucción’ at CCA in the same year, Cruzvillegas has exhibited widely. Recent solo shows include: Museo Jumex, Mexico City (2014); Haus der Kunst, Munich (2014); Walker Art Centre, Minneapolis (2013); CCA Wattis, San Francisco (2009). He has also been included in many group exhibitions, including: Sharjah Biennial (2015); The Shanghai Biennial (2012); dOCUMENTA 13 (2012) and the 12th Istanbul Biennial (2011).

Tickets cost £3.00, the event begins at 6pm. To book, please click here.
