Cove Park seeks an experienced professional creative practitioner to deliver their National Art & Design Saturday Club for young people aged 12-18 from Argyll & Bute within their Hands-On Cove Park programme.

The successful candidate will have:

1. knowledge and experience of working across many creative sectors and with varying media, reflecting the breadth of our international residency programme
2. a minimum of three-years experience, or equivalent, devising and delivering creative activities for young people and children
3. the ability to inspire, excite, encourage, engage and motivate young people to enjoy, learn and develop from their own and others participation in and enjoyment of creative activities

Hands-On is a new and exciting programme of creative educational and participatory public events for people in Argyll & Bute responding to our international residency programme. Hands-On comes at a critical and exciting time in Cove Park’s development with the opening of our new Artists Centre. The National Art & Design Saturday Club is a core strand of Hands-On activity for young people and children running concurrently with the Saturday Art Club (for ages 5-11) to be led by a to be appointed Saturday Art Club Tutor.

The National Art & Design Saturday Club (NADSC) links school children aged 13-16 with tutors and professional creative practitioners via a programme of creative sessions at arts organisations and venues across the UK that complement the school curriculum and develop young people’s talents, life skills and confidence. Cove Park is the first NADSC in Scotland and will enable young people from Argyll & Bute to connect into a national creative programme at a time when they are exploring and deciding on their future education options.

The appointment is on a self-employed freelance part-time basis, initially for 24, three-hour sessions from October 2016 – June 2017. A basic fee of £2,430 – £2,880 will be paid, with an additional fee of 5 days at £215 – £266 per day for attendance of NADSC activity in London. The fee is dependent on experience and in line with SAU rates of pay.
