As anyone who has been to Cove Park will know, we have fabulous places to live and work but a small and rather battered central building, which limits the potential for creative exchange which is at the heart of all that we do.

Cove Park’s Artists (the 1,300 creative people who have been residents here since 2000) have told us, variously, of the need for two more bedrooms and two new studios (one sound-proofed) and separate areas for entertaining and working, as well as a proper library, IT and archive spaces. A brand new building, planned for where the old one was, will have them all.

Architects Cameron Webster have, in other words, designed proper facilities for artists and public areas from which we can promote wider appreciation in the process of making new work. Creative Scotland has £620,000 of the costs and we need to find the rest: £700,000.

We will begin construction in 2014 and we are now approaching trusts, foundations and individuals to help. If you believe that the ability of artists to make new work is important to our cultural life, and are in a position to help, please get in touch and/or contribute via a crowd-funding campaign underway in a few weeks.
